The Long Cabin Community Church in Smyrna, Georgia is the first ornament in local artist Robin Ferril’s limited edition collection. Known for its signature red door, the church sponsored Ferrill’s son’s Boy Scout Troop, which was part of his life from his first days as a Cub Scout at the age of six to his Eagle Scout days soon after graduating from high school.
“I was a single mom when my son was growing up, so the Log Cabin Boy Scout Troop became his surrogate family,” said Ferrill. “I was so moved by their support and kindness, that I was inspired to make this ornament to honor a place that has been so special to my family.”
Her love for the spaces and places in our communities is evident in every detail, from the glaze on the signature red door to the elaborate brickwork. This handcrafted heirloom preserves Ferrill’s memories not only for her family, but for future generations.
